From 1915 to 1917 the title was registered to Lettie M. Bennett, c/o Keefer and Townley.

The house was built in approximately 1915.

In 1917 ownership changed to Lilly M. Burnett, wife of Kenneth Lumsden Burnett who also owned the adjacent property to the west.

Ruyter S. Sherman, who had camped on the grass in front of the house in 1910 with his wife Nellie and daughter Maud, purchased the property in 1919. He named the house Traumerei, a German word for daydream or reverie. Maud Sherman became a well-known BC artist.

R.S. Sherman owned the property until 1933 when he sold to Percy Gomery (children Darrell and Donna).

Albert (Dude) Walkem was the next owner, in the late 1940s or early 50s (wife Pat, children Linda, Eileen and Judy). The Savary Island Pie Company in West Vancouver was created by Eileen.

Vancouver lawyer Ormond (Orme) Hall purchased the property around 1955. His wife was Pat and children are Linda (m. Rogers) who became an award-winning poet and writer, Dana and Jamie.

In 1970 it was sold to Walter (Wally) Solheim (wife Mavis, children Maryanne, Marcus and Melanie). The Solheims often rented to David and Debbie Rollins, who eventually purchased their own cottage.

In approximately 2003 North Vancouver general practitioner Dr. Dorothy Janzen and her husband Jeff Crowter (son Spencer) purchased the property. It was too difficult to renovate the old cottage, so in 2006 they rebuilt, keeping the same footprint and the heritage style. They named the cottage Arduaine, possibly related to the Arduaine Gardens in Scotland, since Dorothy is a master gardener.

The front porch was once the scene of a solo cello concert by Dorothy’s friend Arthur Arnold, the co-founder and musical director of the Pacific Region International Summer Music Association (PRISMA). The concert introduced Savaryites to PRISMA which has become one of Powell River’s most successful organizations, and now has some Savary members.

When Dorothy was on the island, she hoisted a white flag with a red cross to indicate that her door was open to people with medical issues.

Spencer Crowter is now married to Isabela.
