P. Lamont was listed as the first owner (children Peter, Don and Mary), from 1915 to 1925. According to Gladys Bloomfield, the original structure was a wooden platform with walls and a red tent top.
Around 1930 the property was purchased by Fred and Ruth Mather. In 1931 the tent platform was demolished and a house built by Bill Mace. George Bloomfield constructed the fireplace.
The Mathers sold the property in 1953 to Philip Wootten and his wife Roberta (Bobby), who since 1947 had shared a house three doors west with Phil’s brother Geoff Wootten and his wife Helen. Phil and Bobby’s children are Philip (Flip) and Christopher.
George Bloomfield constructed a patio at the back of the house.
Philip (wife Judy) and Chris Wootten (wife Elizabeth) took ownership of the property in 2004.
Flip’s children are Jonathan (Anna) and David (Marlene Bone). Chris’s children are Edward (Ann Tait), Charles (Erika), Sarah (Andrew Kelvin) and Nathaniel (Bev). And now Chris and Flip’s grandchildren (Grace, Alexander, Bennett, Isaak, Hannah, Simon, Alyssa, Gabriel and Rafael) are the fifth generation of the Wootten family loving Savary.
In 2024 a Wootten family reunion was planned, but sadly not all were able to attend, so it was labeled a mini-reunion. Wharf jumping and a progressive dinner were the order of the day.
